Individually prescribed IV therapy

Intravenous therapy delivers a prescribed preparation through a vein. The useful starting point is the clinical reason for choosing this route, the exact ingredients and the expected benefit compared with alternatives. Composition and monitoring are agreed individually.

In detail

Why the reason for an infusion matters

Some clinical situations call for intravenous treatment. That does not make the route inherently better for every nutritional or wellbeing goal. In HLC care, the decision should explain why an infusion is being considered and how it fits the wider plan, including food, oral treatment or further investigation where appropriate.

Before administration

The clinician reviews your health, medicines, allergies and relevant results. Kidney or heart conditions, pregnancy and previous reactions may change suitability. The exact sterile preparation and its pharmaceutical quality must be established; ingredients sold for oral supplements are not automatically suitable for injection.

What a session involves

After the preparation and consent are confirmed, a trained professional places a small cannula in a vein and administers the prescribed infusion. The team monitors your response according to the protocol. Duration depends on the actual preparation and your tolerance; it should be confirmed before the visit.

Tell the team promptly about pain at the infusion site, itching, chills, dizziness, nausea or breathing discomfort. Infusions can cause local irritation, infection, fluid-related problems or ingredient-specific reactions, including serious allergic reactions.

What happens afterwards

You receive advice for the actual preparation and know whom to contact if concerns develop. Any repeat course should have a purpose and a review of benefit and tolerability. Feeling different immediately after an infusion does not establish a lasting health or longevity benefit.
